Micklewrights Flash

Brief description of fishery:

Micklewrights Flash is SSSI water, a mixed fishery and former day-ticket venue offering superb fishing. Recent fishing has produced double figure catches of carp up to 19lb and beyond. Tench have been caught in excess of 5lb, bream to 8lbs and roach fishing are also to be had. The water has a head of pike and fish up to 16lb have been caught as well as perch to 2lbs.

Carp range from mid doubles to 20lb, Pike to mid doubles,Tench to 7lb, Bream to 8lbs, Perch to 2lb, Small Roach.

Special Rules for this fishery:
  • Members MUST NOT block any footpaths
  • Fishing is only permitted from the designated pegs
  • Junior non-members must fish the same peg as the Senior member responsible for them, the Senior member must hold a membership that allows them to fish Micklewrights Flash and use a maximum of 2 baited rods at any one time on the same peg. 
  • No fires
  • Take all excess bait home, do not put it in the lake
  • No pre baiting
  • No matches to be held on the water 
  • No fish to be kept in a sling or sacked up. 
  • No arrival or departure from the site between 9pm and 7am (Spring/Summer months) Dusk-Dawn (Winter)
  • All vehicles must be parked in the area provided and not driven beyond unless otherwise stated on the noticeboard. 
  • Any bivvies must be close to the water’s edge not erected on the pastureland.

All anglers, especially long stay anglers, must ensure their toiletry requirements are catered for in a way that does not cause any offence or hygiene hazard to any other person/property. Bailiffs will ask what provisions have been made to comply with this rule, if provisions are not considered adequate enough: members will be asked to leave the water. All foul waste must be bagged and removed by the member; failure to comply WILL result in a lifetime ban.

Access & Parking

Heading south on the M6, leave at Junction 17 and take the A534 exit to Congleton/Sandbach, turning right at the top of the slip road. Take the A534 toward Sandbach. Continue through Sandbach and past the turn off to Wheelock. At Clay Lane turn right and after 300ft turn left and then immediate right into Maw Lane. After 1 mile the Road becomes Maw Green Road and another ½ mile turn right into Sydney Road and the first right into Groby Road. After 1 mile, turn into Groby Farm.
